Finger Lakes Land Trust President Andrew Zepp will provide a report on the organization’s efforts to restore and develop a 100-acre public conservation area with trails in the town of Skaneateles.  A brief presentation will be followed by time for questions.

Environmental scientist and Land Trust board member Charles Driscoll will introduce the program, which is co-sponsored by the Skaneateles Lake Association. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

In 2024, the organization acquired 101 acres bordering Shotwell Brook just outside the village of Skaneateles. The parcel features more than 1,000 feet of frontage on Shotwell Brook and more than 1,000 feet of frontage on U.S. Route 20.

The property was identified as a conservation priority due to its location near the headwaters of Shotwell Brook, a key tributary of Skaneateles Lake. Establishing the Shotwell Brook Conservation Area will provide a significant long-term benefit to water quality within the Skaneateles Lake watershed.
