Description: Hemlock Woolly Adelgid continues to spread throughout the Skaneateles Lake watershed. Several partners have rallied to protect Eastern Hemlock trees around Skaneateles Lake, treating trees on both public and private lands. This program will speak more about the treatment efforts happening around the lake, including a demonstration from a certified pesticide applicator. Additionally, there will be an overview of biological controls with a few examples of successes and an outline of the statewide strategy shared. There will be plenty of time for Q&A throughout the event. A good portion of the program will take place outdoors (weather permitting – please dress appropriately).
Speakers:
Matthew Del Buono, Extension Aide, New York State Hemlock Initiative
Nicholas Dietschler, Research Support Specialist, New York State Hemlock Initiative
